Guillaume Roy-Fortin

I am a teaching professor of mathematics at the École de technologie supérieure.

Previously, I was a Ralph Boas Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Northwestern. In 2015, I completed my Ph.D. at Université de Montréal under the generous supervision of Iosif Polterovich. I also have a background in psychology.

Mathematics and AI Seminar

Research

My research interests fall into two general directions.

First, I study eigenfunctions of elliptic operators on Riemannian manifolds, in particular the properties of their nodal sets.

I am also interested in the mathematical aspects underlying machine learning.

Course MTI881: Mathematical Aspects of Deep Learning

I have designed a course covering various mathematical themes that play a role in machine learning. The lecture notes (in French) are available here and the exercises with solutions here.
